1 - Arrival Frankfurt Airport - Transfer to Castle
Greet and Meet your Chauffeur /Tour Manager at the Frankfurt
Airport and start your adventure through all these European
Countries with him.
It’s off on the open road this morning from Frankfurt to the
majestic and fabled Rhine. Follow the river past the castles
of Burg Rheinstein and Burg Sooneck to Bacharach, famed for
its half timbered houses. Awesome scenery is at every turn,
but prepare yourself for spectacular views from the 1000
year old Castle of Schönburg, where you will stay for 2
nights. Dining like Kings at the Castle Restaurant, with the
Rhine winding around under knees.

Day
2 - Rhine Villages & Castles
Full day to explore those “Castles on the Rhine” perched
along both sides of the river. High above Braubach is the
mighty Marksburg, the only castle-fortress in the entire
Rhine-Valley never to have been destroyed. Here you will
find a great collection of armor as well as an interesting
medieval garden.

3 - The Black Forest
Your day begins with a drive crossing briefly into France to
Strasbourg, one of that country’s best preserved medieval
towns. Stop for lunch and a stroll around that beautiful
City. Back to Germany deeper into the “Schwarzwald” via the
unique Gutach Falls which plunges down the mountain side in
seven spectacular stages. Continue deep into the Black
Forest to the center of the clock making industry and the
home of the Cuckoo Clock. Overnight at Hotel Wehrle in
Triberg. See the biggest Cuckoo Clock of the world!!! Use of
wonderful Spa facilities at the Hotel.

4 - Black Forest/Germany to Lucerne/Switzerland
Late morning, start driving through the “Forest” via the
famous Rhine falls into the Swiss countryside and along the
shores of the beautiful Lake of Lucerne. Settle into the
Romantik Hotel “Wilden Mann” for 2 nights. Bratwurst for
Lunch in the fairytale village of “Stein am Rhein”. Fine
dining Dinner in Lucerne!

5 - Lucerne
Because Lucerne is ideal for taking a stroll, we call our
guided city tour «a walk around Lucerne». On the Walk & City
Train Tour, you will learn important, humorous and
interesting facts about Lucerne’s history, churches,
bridges, narrow streets, towers, squares and, of course,
Lucerne’s trademark – the Chapel Bridge with the Water
Tower.

6 Lucerne - Glacier Express Train Ride - St. Moritz
After a wonderful breakfast, departure to Andermatt. Then
it’s all aboard the Glacier Express Train for an
unforgettable trip across 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels
to St. Moritz where you’ll enjoy breath-taking views of the
Alps. Enjoy the beautiful landscape of the lovely Engadin
Valley, and settle in for a two-night stay in Celerina. St.
Moritz, home of the international jet-set, is considered the
oldest and one of the most famous winter resorts in the
world. Every winter this alpine village hosts the “White
Turf” horse race on the frozen Lake St. Moritz.

7 St. Moritz and Surroundings
The whole day is dedicated to explore the beautiful Engadine
area. St. Moritz Sightseeing - Shopping - Winter/Summer
Sport Activities.
Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides: Take a merry and elegant sleigh
ride through the wonderful winter forest, tucked into a cozy
warm woolen blanket. How about a cheese fondue in a homey
‘Stüvetta’ to round off the day?

8 Switzerland to Lake Maggiore-Italy
Leave St. Moritz after a rich breakfast, driving via the
famous “Passo del S. Bernardino”, which takes us south into
the Ticino, that Italian speaking part of southern
Switzerland. Stop for a quick stroll through the town of
Bellinzona. Then drive southwest to the resort of Ascona,
spend some time there for lunch, visiting its Old Town and
wandering its narrow streets. Back into the car and finally
crossing the Swiss/Italy Border. Arrival in Canobbio at Lake
Maggiore in the afternoon. Settle into Hotel Cannobbio just
for 1 night. Easy going Pizzeria for dinner.

9 Lake Maggiore to The Italian Riviera
Early 9 Am departure for a long driving day to the Italian
Riviera. Cruising along the beautiful shores of Lake
Maggiore, we will use the Italian Autostrada in order to get
around busy Milan and for crossing the Alpi Apennini . Once
arrived at the Mediterranean Sea, stop at VIP Portofino,
have a nice espresso and then a stop at the beautiful
seaside town of Santa Margherita for a late lunch. Arrival
in Lerici on the Gulf of Poets, where we settle for 2 nights
at the family run Doria Park Hotel.

10 - Day Excursion to The Cinque Terre
Depending on the weather, we’ll take the boat, train, or our
private Van, and visit the remote 5 towns comprising the
breathtaking Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre is a unique
area, full of tiny peninsulas and romantic bays. The towns
are terraced, almost falling into the sea, and form the
gorgeous National Nature Reserve of the Cinque Terre. We
will walk at least the famous “Via dell Amore”, which
connects 2 villages. – If there is more time and energy, we
walk to another one. Light lunch based on pasta al Pesto.
Back to our Hotel in Lerici and dinner on your own. –
downstairs!!

11 - Lerici (Liguria) to Lucca (Tuscany)
Breakfast and ready to drive towards Tuscany. We’ll drive
for a Cappuccino & Cornetto at the enchanting village of
Pietrasanta. The village is famous for its marble sculptors
who work on marble quarried in the nearby hills. En route
stop at Pisa in order to fix the Leaning Tower. A short
drive from Pisa lies Lucca, a lovely city enclosed by
massive red brick walls. Built between 1504 and 1645 it
represents one of the best-preserved Renaissance defenses in
Europe. The Piccolo Puccini Hotel is our final destination
today.

12 - Exploring Lucca by Bike & Foot
Today we’ll rent bikes and ride atop the ancient walls – 3
miles long- that have been transformed into a park. We will
enjoy the splendid landscape of the city and its many bell
towers that are silhouetted against the horizon of what was
once a defensive fortification, but that currently serves
the purpose of maintaining intact the center of a
wonderfully charming medieval city.
Great Shopping – Great Food – Great Sightseeing - by Bike &
Walk
For lunch we shop at a local Alimentari Foccaccia Bread,
Salami, Prosciutto, local Wine, Dried Tomatoes, Pecorino –
and have a picnic on the wall.
Dinner at La Vecchia Trattoria Buralli – Specialty La
Tagliata (Meat).

13 - Lucca - Chianti Tour - San Casciano dei Bagni
Moving away from Lucca, the road begins to snake its way
through the gentle hills of the Chianti – visit famous San
Gimignano. Guided wine tasting tour with a stop at a family
run vineyard and a visit of their cellar. Lunch inside the
walls of Monteriggione. The tiny fortified hamlet of
Monteriggioni perfectly conserves its medieval appearance.
Afternoon drink at Piazza del Campo in Siena. If there is
still time and energy, there awaits a site of great beauty:
the Benedictine ‘Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. Final
destination is the 5 Star Luxury Spa Fonteverde in San
Casciano dei Bagni.

15 - ½ Day Explore Countryside - ½ Day Spa
Recommended visits include: Radicofani, passing through the
ancient medieval hamlet of Ghino di Tacco, Rocca with its
beautiful views, and on the way back, the ancient Roman via
Cassia, testimonial to the splendors of the historical Mille
Miglia race.
Another beautiful drive along the panoramic route passing
Monte Cetona. Food lovers must visit Cetona, an ancient
hamlet where the first settlers arrived about 40,000 years
ago. On the way to Chianciano, the drive is along an
enchanting road bordered by cypress trees where many Italian
and foreign filmmakers have filmed. A splendid panoramic
view is possible from the crest, which unwinds between the
Val d’Orcia and the Val di Chiana. On our return we stop in
the delightful medieval city of Pienza, where you can taste
the famous pecorino cheese with a Brunello wine.

for the 16 Day Tour. – minimum 5 people. With four people
add 200 euro surcharge per person. Three people or less,

directly to Andreas or Roberto of Gioia Tour Service.
